Daddy Long Legs

This is a documentary about an abandoned railway that traversed the Brighton coast between the latter and Rottingdean.

I purchased a Drone for this project as my main shooter and wanted to use 3D animation to tell the story of the railway. Using Maya, Octane, After Effects and Premier; I tracked the drone’s camera and imported into Maya. This was also my first time properly modelling something from the ground up. The Pioneer, the tram on the tracks, was modelled and textured from scratch using the pictures captured at the time. While not perfect, my first fully modelled and textured object was this.

I wanted to explore more complex scenes with the Pioneer going through the ocean but due to my inexperience with dynamic simulation in Maya I ended up having to abandon that pursuit and focus on the script and the shots that could be accomplished with the knowledge I had and the shots I had captured.

I'm proud of the final product, for it being the first live action and CGI blended film I made.

This was fully produced by me.
